Storage Tips
Below is a list of suggestions that may be helpful in maximizing your storage needs and experience.
- Fill boxes and containers to capacity but do not overfill.
- Label boxes.
- Keep an inventory of items in labeled boxes and large items including any serial numbers or uniquely identifying information.
- Dissamble furniture for easier storage and moving.
- Leaving a walkway in your space can be beneficial if it will be frequently visitied to remove items.
- Locate items needed most often at the front of the unit.
- Appliances should be thoroughly cleaned before storage.
- Stack items to maximize space. Place heavier, sturdier items on bottom with lighter more fragile items securley stacked on top.
- Fragile items should be packed with layers of packing (i.e. newspaper, butcher paper, towels, clothing) wrapped around them to prevent accidental damage when moving. Each box containing fragile items should be clearly marked as such.
We do not provide moving supplies, but they can commonly be found for free at supermarkets, retails stores, and for purchase from moving companies.
